What is the Sacrament of Reconciliation?
What does the Sacrament of Reconciliation do?
In the Sacrament of Reconciliation, you are called to do three main things:
1. Confess: Confess all of your sins to your priest. Start with the more serious ones (mortal sins).
2. Contrition: After confessing your sins you must be sorry for the sins you committed and you have to do your best not to do them again
3. Penance: After saying sorry, the priest gives you a penance that you have to perform. A penance may be to do extra household chores for a week or saying a set of prayers, such as the Our Father or the Hail Mary.
